Two methods for making rich and creamy hot chocolate using our Ganache for Hot Chocolate base.
Method I: Using Prepared Ganache
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Ganache for Hot Chocolate
- 1/2 cup milk, water, or coffee
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Optional Toppings
- A dollop of Whipped Cream
- Ground nutmeg or cinnamon
Directions

Stir together in a small saucepan or mug:
- Ganache
- milk, water, or coffee

Heat over low heat, or in a microwave on high for 30 to 45 seconds, until warm but not boiling.

If desired, stir in vanilla.

Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with ground nutmeg or cinnamon if desired.
Method II: From Scratch
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 1 ounce dark, bittersweet, or semisweet chocolate (60 to 72% cacao), finely chopped
Directions

Bring half-and-half just to a boil in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.

Remove from the heat and whisk in chocolate until melted.

- Each method makes 1 serving
- Method I uses pre-made ganache for convenience
- Method II creates a fresh ganache-based drink
